Ion Channels and Membrane Receptors in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension

NIH/NHLBI – R35HL171538 (2024-2031)

Ion Channels and Membrane Receptors in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension

The goal of this study is to define the pathogenic roles of membrane receptors and ion channels in the development and progression of pulmonary arterial hypertension. Specifically, we aim to determine the molecular mechanisms by which G protein-coupled receptor functionally interacts with TRP channels and K+ channels to enhance intracellular Ca2+ signaling and cause sustained pulmonary vasoconstriction and vascular remodeling.
